BODYHEAT is a multi-adaptogen, multi-antioxidant blend of select herbs and nutrients chosen for their beneficial effects on overall health and well-being.

Some of the ingredients such as L-arginine and L-citrulline may increase blood flow to vital organs through the production of Nitric Oxide, a valuable messenger-molecule which dilates the arteries, increasing blood flow. Nitric oxide is therefore considered important in sexual function and overall cardiovascular health. These ingredients are combined with others which have a historical use as mood enhancers and aphrodisiacs, helping to increase the libido and sexual desire. Many of the ingredients have been used for centuries for promoting wellness and vitality.

BODYHEAT is caffeine-free and calorie-free.

Amino Melon (Watermelon fruit extract L-citrulline)

Its name is derived from citrullus, the Latin word for watermelon. Extremely rich in L-citrulline, a non-essential amino acid that is an important intermediate in the urea cycle, functioning along with L-Arginine and L-Ornithine to rid the body of ammonia, a by-product of protein metabolism. Because L-Citrulline is a precursor of L-Arginine, it provides a readily available source material for L-Arginine production, which in turn, can be used for the production of Nitric Oxide (NO). NO plays a fundamental role in vascular function and blood flow.

L-Citrulline therefore, not only supports detoxification pathways, but also supports NO production and a healthy cardiovascular system. We use an extremely pure and concentrated extract to give you the results you desire, otherwise you would have to eat a LOT of watermelons to get the same effect which, apart from being impractical, would also mean that you would consume a LOT of sugar and spend all your time in the bathroom!

CatuabaCatuaba - Trichilia catigua

In Brazilian herbal medicine today, catuaba is considered a central nervous system stimulant with aphrodisiac properties. A bark decoction is commonly used for sexual impotency, agitation, nervousness, nerve pain and weakness, poor memory or forgetfulness, and sexual weakness. According to Dr. Meira Penna, catuaba "functions as a stimulant of the nervous system, above all when one deals with functional impotence of the male genital organs . . . it is an innocent aphrodisiac, used without any ill effects at all." In Brazil it is regarded as an aphrodisiac with "proven efficacy" and, in addition to treating impotence, it is employed for many types of nervous conditions including insomnia, hypochondria, and pain related to the central nervous system (such as sciatica and neuralgia). In European herbal medicine catuaba is considered an aphrodisiac and a brain and nerve stimulant.

A bark tea is used for sexual weakness, impotence, nervous debility, and exhaustion. Herbalists and health practitioners in the United States use catuaba in much the same way: as a tonic for genital function, as a central nervous system stimulant, for sexual impotence, general exhaustion and fatigue, insomnia related to hypertension, agitation, and poor memory. According to Michael van Straten, noted British author and researcher of medicinal plants, catuaba is beneficial to men and women as an aphrodisiac, but "it is in the area of male impotence that the most striking results have been reported" and "there is no evidence of side effects, even after long-term use."

Traditional Uses:

  • as an aphrodisiac and libido stimulant for males and females
  • to tone, balance, and calm the central nervous system (and for nerve pain, exhaustion, over stimulation)
  • for nervousness, emotional stress, and insomnia (related to overactive neurotransmitters)
  • as a general tonic (tones, balances, strengthens overall body functions)
  • for poor memory, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia

Properties/Actions Documented by Research: analgesic (pain-reliever), antibacterial, antiviral, vasodilator, vasorelaxant

Other Properties/Actions Documented by Traditional Use: anti-anxiety, aphrodisiac, cardiotonic (tones, balances, strengthens the heart), central nervous system tonic (tones, balances, strengthens), nervine (balances/calms nerves), tonic (tones, balances, strengthens)

Cnidium MonnieriCnidium monnieri - osthol

Cnidium Monnieri is a variety of carrot, largely unknown in the West, which has been used in Chinese medicine for over two thousand years both topically for skin problems and internally as a natural sex booster in conjunction with schizandra chinensis. Cnidium Monnieri naturally increases nitric oxide release, which powerfully increases the production of cGMP. Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP) is the key in obtaining and sustaining a powerful erection.  The body makes nitric oxide (NO) from the amino acid L-Arginine, NO is a vasodilator (vasodilators causing the blood vessels to relax) that increases your body's ability to deliver blood to working muscles (with more NO athletes can expect increased muscle size, strength, endurance and quicker recovery times). Studies have shown that Cnidium Monnieri may have anti-histamine, anti-itch, anti fungal and anti-bacterial properties and be beneficial against osteoporosis.

Evodia RutaecarpaEvodia rutaecarpa - Evodia

Evodia fruit is also known by its Chinese name wu zhu yu and is called gosyuyu in Japan, and has been used since at least the first century A.D. in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It is characterized as having a warm nature and an acrid, bitter, slightly toxic taste, although the fruit is quite fragrant. Taken internally, evodia fruit is used to treat symptoms of abdominal distress. These include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is said to be especially effective in treating morning diarrhea. Evodia is used to stimulate the appetite and to treat abdominal symptoms associated with lack of interest in food.

Evodia is also used as a painkiller. It is a remedy for headaches, especially headaches associated with nausea and vomiting. Traditional Chinese herbalists also use it to treat pain in the upper abdomen and pain associated with abdominal hernias. According to Chinese herbalism, the warm nature of the evodia fruit counteracts cold conditions in the stomach. Can raise body temperature, and influence the secretion of catecholamines from the adrenal glands. It is believed that evodiamine stimulates the vanilloids to reduce the uptake of fat and increase the natural rate of burning fat. Evodiamine also has the ability to significantly elevate the production of body heat (Thermogenisis) and increase the body's resting core temperature. This thermogenic effect may lead to an increase in the calories and fat burned for energy.

Contraindications

Pregnant women should not use evodia fruit. Women who desire to conceive a child should keep in mind that evodia fruit is thought to have anti-fertility properties.

Jatropha MacranthaJatropha macrantha - Huanarpo macho

In herbal medicine systems in Peru, Huanarpo macho is considered aphrodisiac, anti-asthmatic, anti-diabetic, antitussive, anti-ulcerous, and nervine. It is widely used to restore male sexual potency, for premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, and as a male sexual tonic and aphrodisiac. It has recently been called "Peruvian Viagra" in various marketing programs and is as popular in Peru as a male aphrodisiac as muira puama is in Brazil for the same purpose. In addition, the branches and/or tree bark is also used in Peruvian herbal medicine for asthma, bronchitis, coughs, and diabetes in Peru.

Herbalists and practitioners in Peru believe that huanarpo macho can block alpha-adrenoreceptors which reduce the effect of hormones that cause vasoconstriction of blood vessels in penile tissues and augment the production of norepinephrine which is essential in maintaining erectile function. Based on the chemistry of the plant, there is some support for that type of mechanism of action. Several researchers reported in the last few years the possible role of proanthocyanidins as sexual stimulants, specifically able to correct erectile dysfunction and infertility. Thus, the high amount of these chemicals in huanarpo macho is in agreement with the traditional use of this plant as an aphrodisiac. While scientists are still hypothesizing whether huanarpo macho's beneficial effect on male sexual function stems from its alkaloid, proanthocyanidin, or sapogenin chemicals, it remains to be one of the most popular natural remedies in Peru for erectile dysfunction and as an overall male sexual stimulant and libido aid.

Traditional Uses:

  • as a male sexual stimulant, libido enhancer and aphrodisiac
  • for erectile dysfunction
  • for renal and adrenal support
  • as a nervine to calm and support the central nervous system
  • as an antitussive; for coughs, asthma and bronchitis

Properties/Actions Documented by Research: antioxidant, hormone stimulant (testosterone), cytotoxic (Artemia)

Properties/Actions Documented by Traditional Use: aphrodisiac, anti-asthmatic, anti-diabetic, anti-tussive, antiulcerous, nervine

L-Arginine/Glycerine Blend

L-Arginine is a precursor to nitric oxide, meaning that the body converts L-Arginine into nitric oxide gas. Nitric oxide is then used by the body to do many different things. In 1998, three Americans were awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their discovery of the Nitric Oxide Pathway. They were able to demonstrate that the body uses Nitric Oxide gas to make blood vessels relax, elastic and dilated, a significant finding in the battle against heart disease and other vascular diseases. The Nitric Oxide pathway is also important in sexual function as it helps increase blood flow to the sexual organs.

MacaLepidium Meyenii - Maca or Peruvian Ginseng

Naturally rich in amino acids, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals, Maca root has been an important food for the native people in the Andes of Peru, including the Incas, for at least 2,000 years. It is eaten baked, dried, mixed with milk, or in a variety of other forms and dishes. It is also traditionally believed to enhance strength, endurance, libido, and fertility, and help regulate, support and balance the hormonal systems of both women and men for optimal function. Maca has demonstrated an ability to improve libido in human studies without affecting testosterone and estradiol levels, possibly by its ability to improve L-arginine-nitric oxide activity. Animal studies have also shown improved sexual performance without a change in hormone levels. The Maca alkaloids & steroids, glucosinolates, isothicyanates and macamides are probably responsible for its alleged aphrodisiac, adaptogen, anabolic and immunostimulant properties, making it an ideal choice for postmenopausal women. This energizing plant is also referred to as Peruvian ginseng (although maca is not in the same family as ginseng). Maca has been used for centuries in the Andes to enhance fertility in humans and animals. Soon after the Spanish conquest in South America, the Spanish found that their livestock was reproducing poorly in the highlands. The local Indians recommended feeding the animals maca; so remarkable were the results that Spanish chroniclers gave in-depth reports. In Peruvian herbal medicine today, maca is reported to be used as an immunostimulant; for anemia, tuberculosis, menstrual disorders, menopause symptoms, stomach cancer, sterility (and other reproductive and sexual disorders); and to enhance memory. Maca has been growing in world popularity over the last several years due to several large U.S. marketing campaigns touting its energizing, fertility enhancement, hormonal balancing, aphrodisiac, and, especially, enhanced sexual performance properties.

Traditional Uses:

  • as a natural source of nutrients (amino acids, minerals, etc.)
  • to support endocrine function
  • to reduce fertility problems (both male and female)
  • to support erectile function
  • as an aphrodisiac

ChuchuhuasiMaytenus macrocarpa - Chuchuhuasi

Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest have been using the bark of chuchuhuasi medicinally for centuries. Its Peruvian name, chuchuhuasi, means "trembling back". Local people and villagers along the Amazon believe that chuchuhuasi is an aphrodisiac and tonic, and the bark soaked in the local sugarcane rum (aguardiente) is a popular jungle drink that is even served in bars and to tourists (its often called "go-juice" to relieve pain and muscle aches and to "keep going" during long treks in the rainforest). Local healers and curanderos in the Amazon use chuchuhuasi combined with other medicinal plants, as a synergist for many types of illnesses. Considered an adaptogen.

VelvertbeanMucuna pruriens - Velvetbean

Recognized as an aphrodisiac in Ayurvedic Medicine, used for both men and women with low libido, and for women undergoing menopause, mucuna pruriens has an unusually high content of naturally occurring L-dopa which can cross the blood brain barrier and convert to dopamine. Dopamine can stimulate hypothalamic and pituitary function and regulates motor control, sex drive, immune function, lean muscle gain, bone density, energy levels, and the ability to sleep soundly. The ability of L-dopa to significantly increase sex drive and sexual impulses in humans validates its traditional use as an aphrodisiac.

Velvet bean has a long history of traditional use in Brazil and India as an aphrodisiac. Clinical studies in India have validated that the plant does indeed have aphrodisiac activity. It also has reported with anabolic and growth hormone stimulant properties. The anabolic effect of the seed is due to its ability to increase testosterone. In 2002, a U.S. patent was filed on the use of velvet bean to stimulate the release of growth hormone in humans. Research cited in the patent indicated that the high levels of L-dopa in mucuna seed were converted to dopamine which stimulated the release of growth hormone by the pituitary gland. L-dopa and dopamine are also effective inhibitors of prolactin. Prolactin is a hormone released by the pituitary gland; increased levels are considered to cause erection failure in males. In one study, oral intake of the seeds in 56 human males was able to improve erection, duration of coitus, and post-coital satisfaction after only four weeks of treatment.

Traditional Uses:

  • for Parkinson's disease (contains natural L-dopa)
  • for impotency and erectile dysfunction
  • as an aphrodisiac and to increase testosterone
  • as a muscle builder and anabolic/androgenic aid to stimulate growth hormone
  • as a weight loss aid

Properties/Actions Documented by Research: anabolic, androgenic, analgesic (pain-reliever), anti-inflammatory, anti-Parkinson's, antispasmodic, antivenin, aphrodisiac, febrifuge (reduces fever), hormonal, hypocholesterolemic (lowers cholesterol), hypoglycemic, immunomodulator, nervine (balances/calms nerves), neurasthenic (reduces nerve pain)

Other Properties/Actions Documented by Traditional Use: antilithic (prevents or eliminates kidney stones), antiparasitic, cough suppressant, blood cleanser, carminative (expels gas), central nervous system stimulant, diuretic, hypotensive (lowers blood pressure), menstrual stimulant, uterine stimulant, vermifuge (expels worms)

Contraindications: The seed may cause birth defects and has uterine stimulant activity. It should not be used during pregnancy. Velvet bean has shown to lower blood sugar. Those with hypoglycemia or diabetes should only use Velvet bean under the supervision of a qualified healthcare practitioner. Velvet bean is contraindicated in combination with M.A.O. inhibitors. Velvet bean has androgenic activity, increasing testosterone levels. Persons with excessive androgen syndromes should avoid using Velvet bean.

Niacin

Vitamin B3 is important in food metabolism and the breakdown of glucose. It is a coenzyme serving as a catalyst for the release of energy from nutrients. It also helps with the efficient circulation of the blood, expanding the arteries and reducing resistance to the flow of the blood. It reduces low density lipoprotein (LDL-cholesterol), the 'bad' cholesterol, which contributes to hardening and narrowing of the arteries, a precursor of heart disease. With the other B vitamins, niacin has an antioxidant effect. It helps prevent sun damage to the skin, promotes healthy colon function, lowers cholesterol and helps maintain balanced neurochemistry. Healthy sources of B3 are whole grain, dried beans, peas and nuts. It has been found that B3 can be synthesized in the liver from the amino acid tryptophan; therefore, it does not meet the strict criteria for being a vitamin. Nevertheless, a plentiful supply of B3 reduces blood cholesterol and provides protection from the development of atherosclerosis.

MelonS ORAC* - Super ORAC Extramel Melon

Microencapsulated Super Oxide Dismutase, a master antioxidant in the body, in concentrated melon extract. Under stressful conditions (such as smoking, stress and pollution) your body is submitted to oxidative stress, i.e. the production of primary free radicals are increased.  As a result, the enzyme systems (SOD, catalase etc.) which have a maximum primary elimination rate are overloaded.  The powerful antioxidant actions of Extramel may help your body eliminate this overload of free radicals and therefore may help prevent the destructive oxidative stress.A double blind, placebo controlled study on 70 healthy working people has shown the efficiency of EXTRAMEL on perceived stress and quality of life through the improvement of physical and cognitive disorders induced by stress and tiredness.

Vitamin B12

The benefits of Vitamin B12 are well documented. This very important nutrient helps support higher energy levels, emotional stability, mental clarity and more. Vitamin B12 has also been associated with lower homocysteine levels which helps lessen the risk of heart disease. While regular supplements such as your multi-vitamin or b-complex vitamins might have plenty of B12, his particular vitamin is poorly absorbed by the stomach and the intestine. While it will still do some good, swallowing Vitamin B12 in pill form is not optimal. On the other hand, when B12 is placed directly in the mouth and allowed to be absorbed sublingually or transmucosally - the B12 enters the blood stream directly through the blood vessels on the lining under the tongue. This is a much more effective way to raise B12 levels in the body. BODYHEAT uses three bioavailable forms of B12 with methyl being the most expensive and most active. Since it requires no conversion by the liver, it is in a form ready to be used by the body. Vitamin B12 is essential for production of red blood cells and the myelin sheath protecting the nerves. It enables the body to use vitamin B9 (folic acid) correctly, and assists in preventing cell degeneration and in metabolising fats, carbohydrates and proteins to produce energy.
