The following ingredients are in both
bodyline-GREEN(pm) and bodyline-RED(pm):
Lotus Leaf Extract
Extracted from dried leaves of Nelumbo nucifera. It is traditionally used as a treatment of diseases such as heatstroke, diarrhea, vertigo and edema. There are many research reports about chemical ingredients of Lotus Leaves, which include alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins.
It is used for treatment of summer heat syndrome and dampness accumulation. Lotus leaf has become popular for lowering blood lipids and treating fatty liver; it is commonly combined with other ingredients which promote blood circulation and lower blood fats. Bioactive constituent: Nuciferine.
All parts of the flowers and leaves of the Sacred Lotus, Nelumbo nucifera, were used as a traditional relaxing remedy. Recognized as a symbol in the Buddhist religion, the lotus flowers are edible, and the petals are often placed in soups and used as a garnish. Lotus Leaf is a rich source of isoflavones, and Lotus Leaf extract contains nuciferine, N-nonuciferine, O-nornucifeine, anonaine, armepavine, N-methyt- coclaurine, paronuciferine, liriodenine, dehydroroemerine and nelumboside, quercetin, isoquercetin, tastasic acid and citric acid.
Believed Mechanism of Action:
-
Boosting fat metabolism and blocking the non-fat material converting into fat.
-
Pure herbal essence, promoting satiety and controlling the fat intake effectively.
-
Smoothing the intestines to relax the bowels and cleaning the intestinal system.
-
Focus on waist belly and the position where fat easily accumulates.
Cassia Extract (cassia nomame)
Native to China and originally produced in the south of the Changjiang river it is believed that Cassia Nomame is a natural lipase inhibitor, which means it disrupts the digestive enzyme process to block fat from getting into the bloodstream. Consequently, fat molecules may remain undigested and unabsorbed. Cassia nomame also acts as a natural diuretic and provides thermogenic action to stimulate the burning of fat cells within the body. It has been used in Japan as a general food for many years. Cassia Nomame may be able to assist the average person who has trouble sticking to a strict diet to meet their weight-loss goals since taking Cassia Nomame reduces the amount of fat that is broken down into an absorbable size. Therefore, fat that would have normally entered the blood stream will pass through the body. This typically assists in reducing total calorie intake and blood triglycerides.
Believed Mechanism of Action:
-
Reduces the amount of fat absorbed by the body, and by keeping fat molecules in the gastrointestinal tract and making them not digested and blocked getting to bloodstream.
-
Cassia also acts as a natural diuretic, provides thermogenic action to stimulate the burning of fat cells within the body.
-
Cassia is widely used as health food supplements, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetic preparation.
Coca Leaf Extract (erythroxylum coca)
Amazon tribesmen traditionally chew on coca leaves all day long to give them lots of energy and ward off hunger. Although erythroxylum coca is known in the West as the plant from which the illegal narcotic cocaine is produced, consequently, the importation of coca leaves is highly regulated by the United States and other governments due to their potential use in the narcotics trade. In the USA, raw leaves are only able to be processed in a government-controlled pharmaceutical facility to remove all alkaloids and metabolites of the cocaine, rendering the coca leaf extract 'decocainzed'. It is this extract which is recognized as a safe food ingredient. The extracted cocaine alkaloids are used medicinally in drugs such as novocain for pain relief. However, the decocainized or 'spent coca leaves' contain valuable nutritional ingredients which are non-addictive and non-harmful.
In fact, the Food and Drug Administration has listed decocainized coca leaf as safe and natural, so companies like Coca-Cola and Red Bull have found no reason to remove it from their products. After further study, Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment also said the traces of cocaine found in Red Bull Cola were not enough to pose a health risk. It's also not enough to cause side effects or fail a drug test. This ingredient is used as a natural flavoring in foods and can also be found in some cosmetics. In Bolivia, it is an ingredient in some toothpastes, shampoos, and candies. The decocainized coca leaf extract used in BODYLINE is guaranteed free of all traces of cocaine alkaloids and metabolites.
Green Tea Leaf Extract (camellia sinensis)
Links are being made between the effects of drinking green tea and the "French Paradox." For years, researchers were puzzled by the fact that, despite consuming a diet rich in fat, the French have a lower incidence of heart disease than Americans. The answer was found to lie in red wine, which contains resveratrol, a polyphenol that limits the negative effects of smoking and a fatty diet (see also GEON PROTECT). In a 1997 study, researchers from the University of Kansas determined that Green Tea Extract (EpiGalloCatechinGallate or EGCG) shares many of the benefits of resveratrol, which may explain why the rate of heart disease among Japanese men is quite low, even though approximately seventy-five percent are smokers.
New evidence is emerging that green tea can even help dieters. In November, 1999, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published the results of a study at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. Researchers found that men who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories than those given only caffeine or a placebo. To date, the only negative side effect reported from drinking green tea is insomnia due to the fact that it contains caffeine. However, green tea contains less caffeine than coffee: there are approximately thirty to sixty mg. of caffeine in 6-8 ounces of tea, compared to over one-hundred mg. in eight ounces of coffee. Green Tea extract has been shown in research to help the body mobilize and rid itself of excess belly fat.
Achiote Leaf extract (bixa orellana)
Most people are more familiar with the part of the plant commonly known as annatto for its use as a red food colour. The leaf of the Achiote is considered beneficial and healing for the digestive system. Traditionally, achiote leaves are used to treat liver and urinary conditions, heartburn, digestive problems, prostate problems, internal inflammation, arterial hypertension, high cholesterol, cystitis, obesity, renal insufficiency, and to eliminate uric acid.
A tea made with the young shoots is used by the Piura tribe as an aphrodisiac and astringent, and to treat skin problems, fevers, dysentery, and hepatitis. The leaves are used to treat skin problems, liver disease, and hepatitis. The plant has also been considered good for the digestive system. The Cojedes tribe uses an infusion of the flowers to stimulate the bowels and aid in elimination as well as to avoid phlegm in newborn babies. Traditional healers in Colombia have also used annatto as an anti-venom for snakebites. The seeds are believed to be an expectorant, while the roots are thought to be a digestive aid and cough suppressant. One cup is drunk warm or cold 3 times daily after meals to treat prostate disorders and internal inflammation, arterial hypertension, high cholesterol, cystitis, obesity, renal insufficiency, and to eliminate uric acid. This decoction is also recommended as a vaginal antiseptic and wound healer, as a wash for skin infections, and for liver and stomach disorders. |
Chuchuhuasi Bark Extract (maytenus macrocarpa)
the natural bark of this important Amazon rainforest tree will continue to be an effective natural herbal remedy for arthritis, for adrenal support and as an immune tonic as it has been for centuries. Eventually, adrenal fatigue sets in, and many experience symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, insomnia, fuzzy thinking, depression, cravings and mood swings. Once the adrenals become depleted, it can lead to adrenal exhaustion and increased cortisol level which creates hunger, increased caloric consumption.
Guggul Extract (commiphora mukul)
Guggul Extract is actually a resin that is believed to aid in increasing white blood cell counts in the body. This extract is a traditional medicine in India and has slowly made its way to the Western countries as an ingredient in diet and weight loss supplements. Guggul Extract is made from a tree called Mukul Myrrh and those in India claim to have used it for several centuries to treat conditions such as high cholesterol and obesity. Guggul Extract is commonly used in supplements in the United States. Research with laboratory animals suggests guggul may help enhance thyroid function. Since the thyroid gland produces hormones that are needed to regulate metabolism, it can help in weight loss. Studies show guggul may change thyroid hormone metabolism, increase levels of circulating T3, or triiodothyroxine, a thyroxine metabolite known to raise overall metabolism, which in turn increases fat burning. Guggul plays a major role in the traditional herbal medicine of India. It is often combined with other herbs and used in the treatment of arthritis, skin diseases, pains in the nervous system, obesity, digestive problems, infections in the mouth, and menstrual problems.
The mukul myrrh tree is closely related to the Commiphora Mukul tree (or common myrrh). Myrrh was one of the first medicines with hieroglyphic notation of use during ancient Egyptian times depicting its many uses. With such a close relation, many scientists believe that Guggul may have many of the same properties as Myrrh as even their ancient status is similar. One study, published in a recent issue of the International Journal of Food Safety, Nutrition and Public Health, said in conjunction with other plants, myrrh could boost heart health. The researcher fed myrrh resin and other plant materials to albino rats and found that levels of 'bad' cholesterol fell and levels of 'good' cholesterol went up while the rodents were on the diet.
Indian researchers discovered an ancient Sanskrit medical text, Sushruta Samhita, in the 1960s. This classical medical text prescribed guggul for the treatment of medoroga, a disease that closely resembles the symptoms of high cholesterol and hardening of the arteries. Indian scientists subsequently tested animals and found that guggul gum both lowered cholesterol levels and protected against the development of hardening of the arteries. These trials culminated in a pilot study that examined guggul's effectiveness in humans. Although the evidence that it works remains preliminary, the Indian government was sufficiently impressed to approve guggul as a treatment for high cholesterol.
In the Sushruta Samhita, guggul was also suggested for fat loss and the relief of arthritis. Some recent studies have noted benefits for these conditions as well as acne and other conditions. The guggul used in ancient times, as well as that first used after the rediscovery, was a crude, powdered form. The supplements that are available worldwide are a more refined form.
The following ingredients are additional in
bodyline-GREEN(pm):
Cha' de Bugre Leaf Extract (cordia salicifolia)
Cha' de Bugre is known to contain caffeine, potassium, allantoin and allantoic acid. The red fruits or berries of Cha' de Bugre (resembling a coffee bean) contain caffeine, and in fact the roasted brries are often used as a coffee substitute in its native Brazil. The allantoin and allantoic acid may explain the traditional use of the plant for wound healing. The main plant chemicals include allantoin, allantoic acid, caffeine, potassium. In 1990 however, a Japanese University discovered some new uses for cha de bugre. They showed that Cha' de Bugre leaf extract reduced herpes virus penetration by 99% when they pre-treated cells with the extract. In 1994, they showed that the Herpes virus yield was reduced by 33% with as little as 0.25 mcg/ml and also discovered that it had toxic activity against cancer cells (demonstrating a 40% inhibition) utilizing an extract of the branches and leaves.
Cha' de Bugre Herbal Traditional Properties and Actions:
Decreases Appetite, Reduces Cellulite, Increases Urination, Supports Heart, Stimulates
CURRENT PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF CHA DE BUGRE
Cha' de Bugre is a great appetite suppressant, but rather than stopping appetite completely (then causing intense hunger when it wears off at the wrong time) it gives one a sense of being full and satiated after eating only a few bites of food. This seems to promote much smaller meals, more often, which is what many practitioners believe is better for sustained weight loss and keeping the metabolism going throughout the day. It works best if taken 30 minutes to one hour prior to a meal.
L-Theanine
L-Theanine is an amino acid naturally found in green tea that promotes relaxation without the drowsiness or negative side effects associated with other calming agents. L-Theanine also supports healthy cardiovascular function through this relaxing effect as well as its antioxidant properties. Although L-Theanine creates a feeling of relaxation, it doesn't shut down the brain. Studies on rodents show that L-Theanine enhances the ability to learn and remember. By reducing worry, L-Theanine appears to increase concentration and focus thought. L-Theanine increases GABA, while caffeine decreases it. GABA doesn't just relax, it also creates a sense of well-being. L-Theanine's ability to increase this brain chemical can literally put you in a better mood. L-Theanine also increases levels of dopamine, another brain chemical with mood-enhancing effects. Although there is a small amount of naturally occurring caffeine in both green tea and Cha' de Bugre, it is believed that L-Theanine helps offset caffeine's negative effects on the central nervous system, helping make BODYLINE a balanced formula.

Citrus Bioflavonoids
This healthful bi-product is commonly found in fruit. The particular bioflavins included in each Simple capsule are called hesperidins, a naturally occurring substance found in orange peel. Dietary intake of foods rich in flavonoids are associated with preventing coronary and cardiovascular disease. Hesperidins are linked to the ability to help lower cholestoral and blood pressure. Its properties stimulate the metabolic system aiding to the body's ability to burn calories more efficiently. Other studies associate the flavonoid with the ability to help decrease the amount of bone loss, an important factor to consider in a healthy diet if you are reducing your consumption of high-fat dairy products. When taken with vitamin C, hesperidin plays a major role in assuring that the capillaries remain in the best shape possible. Healthy capillaries play an important part in overall health. Hesperidin has been reported to possess a wide range of pharmacological antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. |
